CUBIC is an AI-powered B2C mobile app that helps users shape their lives and personal routines by combining personality insights with smart planning tools. Acting as both a life coach and a smart assistant, CUBIC empowers users to become more self-productive, organized, and aligned with their goals, like having a supportive friend in your pocket.

CUBIC is my personal project, which I’m actively building into a startup. I serve as the Founder and CEO, while collaborating with my cousin (CTO) on engineering and technical implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Defined the product vision and roadmap based on a gap in the B2C productivity app space

  • Conducted market research and competitive analysis across calendar and lifestyle apps

  • Designed the brand identity, including logo, tone, and visual language

  • Created the entire feature set, UX flows, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma

  • Interviewed users and incorporated feedback into iterative product design

  • Designed and tested the MVP using React Native, working closely with the CTO

  • Built the business model, monetization strategy, and marketing launch plan

  • Designed content for social media and a landing page to build community and early awareness

Problem Statement

In a world full of disconnected calendars, to-do apps, and rigid productivity systems, people are still struggling to manage their time and goals in a way that actually supports their lifestyle and mental well-being.

CUBIC was born to solve several deep, human challenges:

  • Traditional tools don’t connect your schedule to your goals or personal life, they just track time

  • Many people lack the motivation and clarity to follow through on their goals consistently

  • Users crave a life coach or supportive companion, not just another calendar

  • Smart scheduling solutions are rare, people need a system that adapts to their behavior, mood, and habits over time

CUBIC aims to become that intelligent, supportive presence, combining smart planning, gamification, and AI to help users actually enjoy managing their lives.

Research & Discovery

Before building the MVP, I conducted user interviews with 20 individuals across different life stages and backgrounds, including students, busy professionals, and non-technical users. The goal was to validate the product direction and understand how people currently engage (or struggle) with planning tools.

🔑 Key insights:

  • Users felt overwhelmed by disconnected tools and wanted something simple but smart

  • The idea of a “smart friend” that supports goal-setting and planning resonated deeply

  • People were especially drawn to CUBIC’s gamified goal tracking and smart scheduling features

  • The early app design received praise for its easy, motivational, and joyful UX, even from users who previously avoided traditional calendar tools

Design & Solutions

CUBIC was designed to be more than just a calendar, it’s a complete ecosystem for personal growth, productivity, and joyful planning. I designed the full product experience from the ground up, starting with core UX flows and evolving it into a cohesive, mobile-first system built in Figma and developed with React Native.

🔧 Core features and user experiences:

  • AI Assistant & Smart Workflows: A conversational assistant that helps users plan, reflect, and adjust with action buttons and behavior-based suggestions

  • Personalized Planning: Personality tests help shape a customized experience based on user traits and energy patterns

  • Gamified Scheduling: Goal tracking and motivational feedback systems make daily planning feel fun and rewarding

  • Dynamic Calendar UI: A fresh take on calendar UX with grouped events (e.g., Wellness, Work, Social), a smart Home page, and a clean schedule view

  • Follow-Up Reminders: Before and after each event, the AI assistant checks in to help users update or reflect, a feature rarely found in traditional calendars

  • Profile & Analytics: Users can track behavior and get insights about their habits, focus, and time usage

  • Onboarding & Subscription: I designed the onboarding walkthrough, in-app settings, and the premium subscription UX

  • Landing Page (Web): Designed and built the marketing site to reflect the brand, explain CUBIC’s value, and capture early user signups

I also created a modular design system to unify the visual identity and interactions across mobile and web.

Results & Early Feedback

We received overwhelmingly positive responses from early testers and interview participants during the MVP validation phase.

🌟 Standout reactions included:

  • Strong emotional connection to the AI assistant and the goal-focused flow, users described it as “exactly what they’ve been needing”

  • Testers loved the gamification system and how it made planning feel less like a chore

  • Users found the personality test highly engaging and a fun way to customize their experience

💬 User Quote:

CUBIC is a very impressive mobile app that can help me manage my busy and messy day.

These early signals gave us confidence that CUBIC is not just another productivity tool, it’s a deeply personal and emotionally motivating experience that users feel connected to.

Insights & Reflections

Building CUBIC gave me clarity about the kind of designer (and founder) I want to be.

  • I discovered how much I love designing products that truly help people grow, not just perform tasks

  • Designing gamification taught me how to shift user mindsets, create emotional engagement, and make daily planning feel joyful

  • Most importantly, I learned how AI assistants can be thoughtful, empowering companions in users’ lives, not robotic tools, but empathetic helpers that guide people toward their best selves

CUBIC is more than an app, it’s a vision for how tech can feel personal, inspiring, and human.
